All of us are aware about the viruses in the computer systems.Here is some basic of the viruses how they works and how to be protected from it.

Let me first start with Malware(malicious software) which is used to disrupt computer functions,operation and harm or gather sensitive information or get access to private data.It is in the form of code,script or software.

It includes:

• Viruses
• Worms
• Trojan Horses
• Rootkits
• Spywares
• Adwares
• Govware
• Ransomware

I cannot explain all of this so i am just giving brief information about all of these and then some tips to avoid them.

• Virus :- Virus is a malware that replicates when executed by inserting copies of itself into computer programs.It performs  harmful job on infected system like stealing hard disk space or CPU clock time speed,accessing private data,corrupt data,spamming contacts or key logging.

• Worms :- It is standalone malware which replicates itself to other computers especially using networks and through security bug access it.It don't need to be attached with some program.It may harm network by only consuming bandwidth.

• Trojan Horses :- It is malware that can not be executed by itself.When the malware program of malicious code is executed it carries out some determined actions typically loss of data or remote access.

• Root-kits :- It is stealthy malicious software which is used to hide the existence of some process or activity or program from basic detection methods and enable continued privileged access to a computer.

• Spywares :- It is a malware that is used to gather information about another person without his or her consent.It may log your keystroke,steal your password and other private information or observe you or redirect you to other sites.

• Adwares :- It is not harmful for users but it is annoying.It is software package which automatically renders ads in order to generate revenue for its author.It may be in the installation during any software.

• Govware :- Govware refers to software or hardware created by a state or private companies working for the state to disrupt computer operations.

• Ransomware :- It is a malware which restricts access to the computer system that is being attacked and demand ransom paid to creator of ransomware in order to remove it.

Here are some tips to stay secure :

• Always use a strong password including uppercase,lowercase letters,numbers,symbols.

• Always use licensed operating system.Do not use cracked version it may be harmful.I personally suggest you to use a Linux operating system.MAC is apart from all.
• If you are using windows then keep auto update on.
• Keep system inbuilt firewall and windows defender on and up to date
• prefer paid antivirus or total security if you can afford or use a free software which are also good at their work.
